IRA Charitable Rollover
You may be looking for a way to make a big difference to help further our mission. If you are 70½ or older, an IRA charitable rollover is a way you can help continue our work and benefit this year.
How an IRA charitable rollover gift works
- Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to us.
- Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to the University of Georgia Foundation to help continue our important work.
- Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
- Please contact us if you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose.
Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover
- Avoid taxes on transfers up to $105,000 from your IRA to qualified charities, including the University of Georgia Foundation
- Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
- Help further the work and mission of our organization
More About an IRA Charitable Rollover
There are certain limitations with respect to the IRA Charitable Rollover:
- This gift opportunity only applies to certain types of IRAs, typically traditional or Roth.
- Other retirement plans, such as 401(k) and 403(b) accounts cannot be used. However, it may be possible to make a tax-free transfer from such other accounts to an IRA, from which a charitable rollover can then be made.
- Rollover gifts cannot be used to fund a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust (because the donor can receive no benefits in exchange for the gift).
If you are considering this gift type, it is important to consult with your professional advisors to ensure that your transfer qualifies.
